Dental Hygienist Team

We are delighted to have four dental hygienist’s as part of the Portobello Dental team. Find out more below about Juliet, Claire, Eimear and Yiran:

Juliet Gwasira

Juliet is a registered dental hygienist who qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2008.

Juliet qualified with a distinction and was awarded best overall student, as well as the DENTSPLY Award for best clinical achievement.

Juliet has been employed in Portobello Dental since 2001, starting of as a dental nurse before studying for dental hygiene in 2006 and re-joined the practice in 2010.

Since qualifying Juliet has worked in various dental clinics with patients of all ages, she is very good with nervous patients and maintains a calm and comfortable treatment atmosphere for patients.

Juliet is always looking out for new ways to assist with patients day to day oral health maintenance and attends continuous education courses to keep up with most recent oral hygiene aids and information.

Claire Brett

Claire graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2013. During her studies she was awarded the Deans prize for academic achievement, a Sensodyne award for Best Oral Health project and also received a Dental Council award for best overall academic achievement.

Since graduating Claire has gained valuable experience having worked in the HSE as well as general and specialist practices. She is a member of the Irish Dental Hygiene Association and continues to attend regular courses and conferences to expand her skill base and keep up to date with any advances in her field.

Claire likes to ensure that patients feel welcome and receive first class treatment with her friendly, warm and professional manner.

Eimear Fennelly

Eimear is a registered dental hygienist who qualified in UCC with a diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2019, she joined the Portobello Dental team in 2022, after relocating to Dublin from Kilkenny!

Her friendly nature helps patients feel welcome and comfortable whilst ensuring to provide high quality care. She helps encourage and educate patients to enhance their oral care routine. She is a member of the Irish Dental Council & Irish Dental Hygienists association and frequently attends dental conferences in order to continuously develop her skillset. Aside of work Eimear is a proud supporter of Kilkenny hurling and enjoys keeping fit and socializing with friends.

Yiran Wang

Yiran completed her undergraduate degree in Oral Health at the University of Melbourne and soon became an oral health therapist in Australia. Yiran is a dedicated, enthusiastic dental hygienist who joined the Portobello Dental Team in 2023. With three years of clinical practice in both public and private dental sections Yiran has rich experience in taking care of people of all ages, especially children to assist with their oral hygiene maintenance. Yiran is passionate about periodontics and would like to make every effort to educate clients about periodontitis prevention and improvement of gum health.

Yiran deeply believes that oral health is an integral part of general health and oral disease prevention is just as important as treatment. To better understand the oral health needs of different populations, she went to Ireland and pursued her postgraduate degree in Community Health at TCD. In her spare time, Yiran is a quiet person and enjoys spending time with herself. Playing the piano, reading detective novels, and cycling are all her favourite activities.
