What is a dental bridge?
Bridges are a great permanent fix for patients with missing teeth. While partial dentures provide a useful solution for those who prefer removable artificial teeth, a dental bridge provides a replacement that is fixed in place.
A dental bridge will usually be suggested if only a very few teeth need replacing or if teeth are only missing on one side of the mouth.
The base of a dental bridge is normally made from a type of precious metal, while the artificial tooth placed on top is made from porcelain and styled to match the shape and shade of your natural teeth.

What type of dental bridge should I get?
There are a variety of different bridge designs you can choose for your teeth, but most types fall into one of two main categories: conventional bridges or adhesive bridges.
Conventional bridges

- Are strong and durable – they should last for over 15 years
- Extensive preparation ensures that the bridges are effective long-term
Adhesive bridges
- Require far less preparation
- The process is kinder to the adjacent teeth
- Usually costs less
- Rely on the adhesive used to bond them in place with a lifespan of 7-10 years
- Look good cosmetically
